Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan visited the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs
On July 19, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov met with the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan Mahammadbagir Bahrami in connection with completion of his diplomatic activity. Ali Hasanov highly appreciated the Ambassador’s efforts for the development of relations between our countries during the period of his diplomatic activity.
Emphasizing close religious, historical and cultural relations between our countries, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the international humanitarian organization of Iran “Imam Khomeini Relief Committee” still took an active part in the biggest and lasting humanitarian projects carried out in Azerbaijan. Through this organization, programs for providing 40 thousand refugees, IDPs living in 500 settlements in 45 regions of the republic and other low-income people, as well as families of martyrs with food, financial aid, medicines, etc are carried out. 1400 orphan children of refugees, IDPs and low-income families settled in regions of the Republic are protected by this organization. The organization has spent 40 million dollars on humanitarian projects carried out in our country since 1994 – start of its activity – up to this date.
It was noted that in Azerbaijan, different humanitarian projects have been carried out by another Iranian organization through the Red Crescent Society. Seven tented camps were made in the areas of Bilasuvar, Saatli and Sabirabad in 1993 and 46 thousand 471 IDPs were temporarily settled there. In general, nearly 7 million USD was spent on humanitarian projects carried out through the organization in 1993-2001.
The Ambassador M.Bahrami, thanking for warm meeting, stated his satisfaction to work in Azerbaijan, emphasized that he tried to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries during the period of his diplomatic activity.
Mentioning Azerbaijan’s rapid development, the diplomat said Iran was glad for the achievements of our state. The Ambassador noted that development of relations between the two countries was always the focus of attention of Azerbaijani and Iranian presidents.
The Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov wished the diplomat successes in his future activity.
