The Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Republic, the chairman of the State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, Mr. Ali Hasanov had a visit from newly assigned Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Bord Ivar Svendsen in December 15. Congratulating the ambassador on this assignment at the event held for acquaintance, Ali Hasanov wished success in his activity to be conducted in Azerbaijan as well as expressed his confidence on this assignment to play an essential role in the development of the relations between Azerbaijan and Norway and for the sake of our states and nations. By taking into consideration the new assignment of the ambassador to our country the Deputy Prime Minister, Ali Hasanov provided information to him on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Daghlig Garabagh conflict, its historical roots, more than 1 million 200 thousand citizens living more than 22 years in the conditions of refugees and IDPs in the issue of this conflict, the measures implemented by the state of Azerbaijan on the conflict as well as the solution of the problems of refugees and IDPs during the exchange of opinions. Considering the desire of Norwegian diplomat to acquaint with the real condition of refugees and IDPs in our country, the Deputy Prime Minister provided extensive information on the measures carried out by the state of Azerbaijan and mentioned that it was the result of daily care and attention paid by the President of Azerbaijan Republic, Mr. Ilham Aliyev that our citizens of this category were under the full care of the state, considerable work was conducted on the improvement of their social and living conditions, 89 modern type settlements and blocks together with all social and technical infrastructure were put into use at the expense of State Oil Fund in the different regions of our Republic and around Baku city, 240 thousand refugees and IDPs were settled to the apartments in these settlements. Besides, emphasizing living of more than 370 thousand citizens under severe conditions, conduction of the works on the improvement of living conditions until they return to their native in stages, Ali Hasanov highly appreciated the projects realized by the international humanitarian organizations of Norway operating in our country on this direction as well. Expressing gratitude for detailed information, Norwegian diplomat stated that he would visit the areas settled by them for close acquaintance with real condition of refugees and IDPs in our country, expressed his satisfaction on evidencing overall development of our country in every visit to Azerbaijan, confidence on the cooperation relations to be expanded for the sake of common interests in the period of its activity. Speaking about the economic relations between our countries, the ambassador expressed his confidence on the development of these relations under growing direction.
